Sonic VA is in the business of providing Social Media Marketing & Social Media Management for our clients. All our Virtual Assistants are trained to both manage our client’s social media accounts as well as conduct marketing campaigns using the client’s social media accounts. The two terms are often used interchangeably, but there is a distinct difference that requires very different skills sets.
The term Social Media Marketing (SMM) refers to the use of social media and social networks to market a client’s products and services. Social media marketing provides clients with a way to engage with existing ones and reach new ones while allowing them to promote their desired story, mission and message.
The term Social Media Management is the process of analyzing social media audiences and developing a strategy that’s tailored to individual clients. A VA is often charged with creating, and distributing content for social media profiles, monitoring online conversations, collaborating with influencers, providing community service, and monitoring, measuring, and reporting on social media performance and ROI.
While Social Media Management focuses more on the use of social media accounts, Social Media Marketing focuses more on creating and executing a strategy to generate leads for your business through your presence on social platforms. For the majority of our clients, made up mostly of small business owners and entrepreneurs, VAs are required to master both.
To this end, Sonic VA trains our VAs on a 4-phase methodology that takes into account the typical duties involved in both managing social media and marketing using social media. The 4 phases are (1) content creation, (2) strategic planning, (3) engagement and (4) follow up.
We have found that most of our clients do not have the deep understanding of how to be effective with their social media, so its paramount that our VAs be able to equally share the client’s vision, while also being competent in completing daily tasks.
